Mineral Tech feeder sleeves are produced to be used in every kind of iron, steel and other metal alloy castings. During solidification, metal shrinkage and cavity formation takes place as a result of change in crystal structure. In order to prevent these cavities in casting, feeder sleeves are used. Feeder sleeves are designed in three (3) main categories by their specifications.
Advantages of feeder sleeves:
High Exothermic Feeder Sleeves:
This type of feeder sleeves are used in steel, ferrous and non-ferrous casting. Especially, they may be used in automation systems due to sleeves’ precise dimensions. High exothermic sleeves may be produced in closed, open and special forms according to customer’s aim of use.
Medium Exothermic-Insulating Feeder Sleeves:
This type of feeder sleeves are particularly used in steel and ferrous casting where the modulus is greater than 2. They may be produced in different shapes (cylindrical, oval, conical, etc.) and may be designed up to 900 mm diameter.
Insulating Feeder Sleeves:
Insulating feeder sleeves are used in ductile iron and aluminum castings. They provide superior insulating character and may be produced in closed and open form.
Mini risers are used in steel castings and nodular cast iron. Highly exothermic mini risers provide %75-80 feed efficiency. Thus, casting yield increases. They are designed as thick-walled risers and, they enable higher exothermic character.
The area in contact with the casting surface is limited, so, they may be used in a wide range of application by the help of design.
Highly exothermic mini risers’ feeding performance is greater than conventional feeder sleeves.
The capacity of mini risers may be improved with special designs and functional auxiliary materials.
